About My Practice
ABOUT MY PRACTICE
Psychotherapy...not easily described in a general way. It varies depending on the personalities of the psychologist and client, and the particular problems raised to discuss in your therapy. There are many different methods I may use to deal with the concerns that you hope to address.
Psychotherapy is not like a medical doctor visit. It will call for a very active effort on your part. In order for the therapy to be most successful, you will have to work on things we talk about both during and outside our sessions. As therapy involves a large commitment of time, expense and energy, it is important to be very careful about the therapist you select.
In my practice of treating adults, couples, children and adolescents, I use a wide variety of therapeutic interventions including crisis and stress management and cognitive behavioral and relaxation/ desensitization therapies. I help my patients identify, change and alter faulty patterns of communication that often lead to conflict. I also treat individuals with acute and chronic medical illnesses.
I believe it is critical to good treatment for the psychologist and client to have a basic alliance and clear vision of what they are trying to accomplish together.
